Dunsborough bakery almond croissant
Dunsborough, Western Australia has two bakeries, one dating back to 1941 and the other much newer. Neither have much ambience although coffee at the “newer one” is good and the sitting area is clean, bright and handy for the tourist office and public loos.

There is an ongoing rivalry as to who has the best pies. Pies in the Australian savory sense of the word that means curried chicken/ steak and kidney/ spinach with feta. I would say that both bakeries have good fresh pies but none are record breaking or sufficiently special to write home about.

But, and that is a very big BUT, the old bakery has one cake that is truly outstanding on a world class level ..the almond croissant , a light, moist, buttery sweet croissant with a tasty almond filling. I have carried out very rigorous testing on this product over the last couple of months and can report that they are baked daily in small volumes so are always fresh, they smell great, are moist but not too greasy or gooey. They are consistently perfect and are a piece of heaven.
